Full job description

Cleaner

We are seeking a reliable, hardworking and dedicated Cleaner to join our team within our care home.

The successful candidate will play an important role in maintaining a clean, safe and welcoming environment for our residents, visitors and staff.

This role requires good attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness, hygiene and infection control throughout the home. Previous cleaning experience is desirable but not essential, as appropriate training will be provided.

Responsibilities

Carry out cleaning duties throughout the care home, including residents’ rooms, communal areas, bathrooms, corridors and other designated areas
Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust and sanitise surfaces to maintain high standards of cleanliness
Clean residents’ rooms and personal spaces with care and respect for their privacy, dignity and belongings
Follow cleaning schedules and procedures to ensure all required areas are completed to the appropriate standard
Follow infection prevention and control procedures at all times
Ensure cleaning tasks are completed in accordance with health and safety requirements
Use cleaning products, chemicals and equipment safely and correctly
Maintain cleaning equipment and report any faults, damage or shortages promptly
Assist with appropriate waste disposal and recycling
Report any maintenance, safety or hygiene concerns to the appropriate member of staff
Work alongside care staff and other members of the team to help maintain a safe, comfortable and welcoming home
Communicate respectfully and professionally with residents, relatives, visitors and colleagues
Follow safeguarding and confidentiality requirements at all times

Skills and Experience

Previous cleaning experience is desirable but not essential
A reliable and hardworking approach
Good attention to detail and pride in maintaining high standards
Ability to work independently and as part of a wider team
Good communication skills
Ability to follow cleaning schedules, instructions and health and safety procedures
A respectful, patient and friendly approach when working around older and vulnerable people
Good time management and organisational skills
Commitment to maintaining residents’ dignity, privacy and comfort
