We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Kitchen Assistant to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in supporting the kitchen staff by ensuring that food preparation and kitchen operations run smoothly. Duties
- Assist in meal preparation by chopping, slicing, and preparing ingredients as directed by the head chef or kitchen supervisor.
- Maintain high standards of food safety and hygiene throughout the kitchen, ensuring compliance with health regulations.
- Help with the organisation of catering events, including setting up and breaking down food stations.
- Clean and sanitise kitchen equipment, utensils, and work surfaces regularly to maintain a tidy environment.
- Clean and sanitise all restaurant and bar dishes and cutlery.
- Support cooks in cooking tasks when required, ensuring that dishes are prepared to specification.
- Assist in inventory management by checking stock levels and reporting shortages to the kitchen manager.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient kitchen operations during busy service periods.
Experience
- Previous experience in a kitchen or restaurant environment is advantageous but not essential; enthusiasm for culinary arts is highly valued.
- Knowledge of food safety practices and regulations is preferred.
- Ability to work effectively in a team setting while also being capable of taking initiative when necessary.
- Strong organisational skills with attention to detail in food preparation and presentation.
- A willingness to learn new skills related to catering, meal preparation, and general culinary practices.
