Title: Business Development Manager
Base Salary: £30,000 - £40,000 per annum
Average OTE: £60,000+ (uncapped commission scheme)
Reporting to: Sales Director

We are a well-established, independently owned specialist security and entry solutions company proudly celebrating over 30 years in business. Based in Gloucester, we work across the healthcare, education, leisure, and commercial sectors, offering trusted expertise and a personal, solutions-driven service.
As we enter the next phase of growth, we're looking for a commercially sharp, driven Business Development Manager to spearhead new business activity, strengthen key account relationships, and help us capitalise on a significant pipeline of opportunity.
What You’ll Do
- Proactively identify, target, and win new business across a range of commercial sectors.
- Build and manage a structured pipeline, developing opportunities from first contact through to completion.
- Build and nurture long-term client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor and key point of contact.
- Prepare high-quality quotations, proposals, presentations, and costings, including negotiation and contract discussions.
- Maintain strong product and technical knowledge across our full portfolio, keeping clients informed of developments.
- Manage and update all sales pipeline activity using CRM and database tools.
- Produce tailored proposal documents that clearly communicate technical solutions and value.
- Work collaboratively with the operations team to ensure successful project delivery from initial enquiry to installation.
- Identify upselling and cross-selling opportunities and share insights with the Sales Director.
- Monitor and review personal sales performance, proactively working towards both individual and company targets.
What We’re Looking For
- Demonstrable track record in B2B business development - ideally in security systems, building services, M&E, facilities management, or a related technical field.
- Proven ability to win new business at a senior level, not just account manage.
- Highly credible communicator - you can present, negotiate, and build trust with senior stakeholders.
- Commercially astute with strong proposal writing and pricing skills.
- Self-managed and structured; comfortable running a territory and reporting on your own pipeline.
- Resilience and confidence when prospecting, cold calling, and generating opportunities.
- Technically curious - you don't need to be an engineer, but you need to engage with technical solutions and learn our portfolio quickly.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and familiarity with CRM or service management systems.
- Strong work ethic with attention to detail and a professional, consultative sales approach.
Essential Requirements
- Full UK driving licence and access to a fully insured vehicle.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in B2B business development or field sales.
- Fluent English (written and spoken to a professional standard).
- Ability to work independently and manage your own territory effectively.
- Comfortable with cold calling and lead-generation responsibilities.
