Job Overview
We are seeking a professional and safety-conscious Banksman to join our construction team. The successful candidate will be responsible for directing vehicle movements on-site, ensuring the safety of all personnel and equipment. This role requires excellent communication skills, a good understanding of construction site protocols, and the ability to operate vehicles safely. The Banksman will play a vital role in maintaining smooth operations and preventing accidents during lifting and manoeuvring activities.
Responsibilities
- Direct and supervise vehicle movements on-site, including lorries, cranes, and other heavy machinery
- Use clear hand signals and radio communication to coordinate activities effectively
- Ensure that the area around lifting operations is clear of personnel and obstructions before movements commence
- Assist drivers with manoeuvring vehicles into designated positions safely
- Conduct regular safety checks to identify potential hazards and report them promptly
- Maintain accurate records of vehicle movements and safety inspections
- Adhere strictly to health and safety regulations at all times
Experience
- Previous experience in construction or a similar industrial environment is preferred
- Strong communication skills in English, with the ability to clearly relay instructions under pressure
- Valid driving licence with experience operating various types of vehicles on-site
- Familiarity with construction site safety procedures and protocols is advantageous
- Proven ability to work effectively as part of a team in a busy environment
