Job Introduction

Job Title: Wholetime Firefighter
Location: Hertfordshire
Salary Range: £30,384 per annum (Development) rising to £38,881 per annum (Competent)
Hours: 37 per week
Contract: Permanent

Do you want to make a difference every day? Do you want a job you love, whilst saving lives? Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue needs you. The role of a Firefighter is not only about fighting fires; it ranges from informing people on a wide number of safety issues to responding to road traffic collisions and medical emergencies to name a few.

All applicants must:

Reside in Hertfordshire or in a directly adjoining postcode area as listed on the Postcode Eligibility Page
Be 18 years old or over at the time you start the training course
Hold a full & valid manual driving licence, enabling ‘unsupervised’ driving in the United Kingdom
Have the right to work in the United Kingdom
Have no unspent convictions (As defined by the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974)
Have GCSE Grade A* to C, or Level 9-4 qualifications in English and Mathematics (or a recognised equivalent i.e. Functional Skills Level 2). See qualification criteria for further details

If you are successful, as part of your development you will complete either a Level 3 Operational Firefighter Apprenticeship or Level 3 Diploma in Emergency Fire and Rescue Service Operations in the Community.
