Position Description:

As part of the Global Tax team, this resource will focus on the accounting operations of the business for VAT/indirect tax matters related to VAT compliance for AEG, the AEG Ireland entities and AEG throughout Europe.

Responsibilities

advice and review complex VAT returns, address liability queries, and conduct VAT health checks.
timely oversight of registrations, audits, and VAT filings.
customer exemption forms and profiles within the AEG system.
guidance on complex VAT issues related to transactions, including both domestic and cross-border scenarios.
with HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) to manage relationships and ensure compliance.
abreast of taxation standards and regulations in the UK and Europe.
on VAT treatment of transactions, place of supply of services, and provide contract reviews.
to ad hoc VAT-related questions from clients and team members on various issues.

Requirements:

Degree in accounting/taxation highly preferred.
At least 5+ years of proven experience in VAT accounting, with a strong understanding of VAT compliance and the preparation of VAT returns.
Analytical skills and attention to detail.
Client service skills with the ability to build and maintain positive client relationships.
Communication skills, capable of explaining complex VAT issues clearly and effectively.
