About The Role:
Personal Tutor Lead will coordinate and manage the work of Personal Tutors at the designated campus, ensuring high-quality pastoral support and effective student progression. The role involves developing a comprehensive Personal Development Programme for the designated level, working closely with the Assistant Principal responsible for Personal Development and Tutorial delivery across the College. Additionally, the Personal Tutor Lead will work with an assigned cohort of students to ensure they receive tailored support, make significant progress in their studies, achieve their learning goals, and transition successfully to sustained destinations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead a team of campus-based Personal Tutors by providing support, advice and guidance and to ensure a consistent approach and high-quality delivery of the Personal Development Programme.
- Ensure an effective Personal Development Programme is in place to support student growth and progression, to include reviewing, contextualising and updating resources.Collaborate with the Assistant Principal to implement Quality Improvement Plan actions.
- Act as a Personal Tutor, supporting a cohort of students through the learning journey, delivering 20 hours of Personal Development sessions weekly.
- Support students with course or study programme changes and deliver weekly tutorial and directed study sessions, including 1:1s and signposting to internal support services where appropriate.
- Monitor student progress and attendance, addressing gaps and concerns using EILP and Progress Monitoring Points.
- Offer guidance on progression pathways, including apprenticeships, employment, and higher education.
- Attend meetings, parent evenings, and contribute to cross-college initiatives such as School Liaison.
To be successful in this role, below is what we would need from you:
- Experience of working the in the Post 16 education setting and delivering tutoring, mentoring or coaching sessions.
- Experience of preparing teaching materials.
- A Level 3 Award or Level 5 Diploma in Education or Training, or willingness to work towards.
- Evidence of commitment to professional development
- A good standard of Maths and English (GCSE Pass or equivalent)
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
