The Role

Working hours – part-time 22.5 hours Wednesday, Friday and Saturday 3.30 – midnight (including bank holidays and University closed days)

The University Library is seeking to appoint a part-time library assistant to join our customer services evening and weekend teams. The post holder will contribute to the effective operation of the Library by providing services to the Library customers and supporting their study at the University. You will provide a welcoming Reception service as well as ensuring the library policies on noise and behavior are maintained, shelving library materials, operating the online issue system and general clerical tasks.

Our Successful Candidate

You should have a good general education and the ability to work as part of a team is really important. Good communication and interpersonal skills, confidence with IT and the ability to work under pressure are also essential for this post. You should also have experience of customer service or dealing with the general public. Experience of working in a library would be an advantage but not essential as training will be given.
