Are you an adaptable, creative SEND practitioner who knows how to build trust before placing demands?

Parity Education is seeking an outstanding Lead Specialist SEND Tutor to direct a 2:1 community-based provision in the Haddenham and Littleport area (near Ely). Working alongside a dedicated Pupil Support Assistant, you will design and deliver a highly flexible, foundation-level curriculum for a primary-aged learner who is currently unable to access mainstream education due to SEMH and sensory needs.

This role is about much more than academic delivery; it is about establishing relational safety and helping a young person rediscover their love of learning. You will use your expertise to create an environment where the learner feels secure enough to take risks, using interest-led, practical activities to gently rebuild their learner identity.

Duties

Lead and coordinate a 2:1 staffing model, providing clear, supportive guidance to your Pupil Support Assistant to ensure a cohesive team approach.
Design and deliver a bespoke, highly flexible curriculum that bypasses traditional academic pressures, using creative and play-based methods to engage the learner.
Continually assess the environment and the learner's presentation, adapting your pedagogy and pacing in the moment to maintain emotional safety and regulation.
Act as a consistent, secure base for the young person, modelling emotional regulation and supporting them to understand and manage their own feelings.
Maintain accurate, professional records of progress.

Experience

We are looking for adaptability, emotional resilience, and a proven ability to engage learners who find education difficult. Formal teaching qualifications (like QTS) are welcome, but we equally value exceptional practitioners with backgrounds in alternative provision, complex care, or creative education.
Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to confidently guide a supporting practitioner.
A deeply reflective practitioner who understands trauma-informed approaches and recognises that all behaviour is a communication of an underlying need.
The professional confidence to prioritise emotional stabilisation and trust-building over immediate academic output.
Excellent safeguarding awareness and the ability to safely manage dynamic, community-based learning environments.

Pay: £35.00-£40.00 per hour
