The post holder will work as part of a team providing open access play and youth work for children and young people aged 6-16 years.
You will work to support the delivery across MYL adventure playgrounds based in Wythenshawe, Ardwick and Moss side.
Main purpose of the apprenticeship
· You must be willing to complete a Level 2 Playworker qualification
· Support with the planning and preparation of activities, helping to create a varied, safe and stimulating environment across both indoor and outdoor settings.
· Face to face work with children and young people delivering targeted and open access play and youth work sessions and holiday playschemes
· Work and liaise with other MYL services and partner agencies to enhance delivery and opportunities for young people.
Main Tasks
1. Work as an effective member of the team and participate in team meetings, relevant training and supervision as part of the apprenticeship.
2. Assist in the preparation and running of play and junior youth sessions and activities in order to provide a varied, safe and stimulating environment in both indoor and outdoor settings.
3. Assist in setting up activities and putting away resources at the end of the session.
4. Promote inclusive activities for all and facilitate the positive integration of children and young people with disabilities, behavioural difficulties and/or additional needs.
5. Use positive behaviour support strategies to encourage positive behaviour and respond to challenging behaviour in a calm, respectful and appropriate way.
6. Establish positive relationships with all children and young people enabling them to increase their confidence and realise their full potential
7. Support and promote the participation of children and young people in planning and decision making.
8. Ensure that the play and youth environments and outside areas are clean, safe and secure and to report defects where necessary.
9. Work cooperatively with other integrated projects supporting the development of other areas of work such as Junior Playworkers and Young Volunteers
10. Assist in the monitoring and evaluation of Play and Youth funded projects
11. Undertake general administrative duties including; recording and filing of relevant forms such as registration forms.
12. Assist with data inputting using monitoring platforms required by funders.
13. Carry out all duties with full regard for all MYL policies and procedures,
14. To promote a positive image of the play and youth provision and the wider work of the organisation.
15. To ensure that your conduct in and out of work does not conflict with the professional expectations of the organisation
16. Attend and participate in training and meetings as part of the apprenticeship.
17. Carry out any other duties which are within the scope and purpose of the post as directed.
