Hours of work: Total 39 hours per week Monday to Friday.

Background:
· Kane Engineering’s primary business activity is the design, manufacture & assembly of low voltage electrical switchgear & control panels.
The Role: We are seeking a skilled and motivated Electrical Technician (Test Engineer) to join our manufacturing team. Working within our highly equipped factory in Newtownards, you will be responsible for inspecting, testing, and commissioning low voltage switchgear assemblies to ensure they meet customer specifications, industry standards, and the highest quality expectations.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong electrical testing experience who enjoys working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and takes pride in delivering high-quality work.
Main duties:
· Carry out routine and final testing of LV switchgear assemblies.
· Perform insulation resistance, continuity, functional, and high-voltage testing in accordance with company procedures and relevant standards.
· Verify wiring, component installation, and assembly against electrical drawings and schematics.
· Diagnose and resolve electrical faults, identifying root causes and supporting corrective actions.
· Complete test documentation accurately and maintain quality records.
· Support commissioning activities where required.
· Ensure all work is carried out safely and complies with company health and safety procedures.
· Work closely with production, engineering, and quality teams to maintain delivery schedules and product quality.
· Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the manufacturing process.
Employee requirements:
Essential:
· Ability to test switchgear in line with procedure and complete documentation
· Ability to read & interpret electrical schematic drawings
· Ability to give clear directions to team leaders and team members
· Ability to monitor teams to ensure that performance, delivery times and quality are adhered to
· Ability to work independently
· Ability and flexibility to work on site when required
· Valid driving licence
· Level 3 Electrical / Engineering qualification
Desirable:
· C&G 2391 inspection and test qualifications (2391-50 & 2391-51 or 2391-52)
· BS7671 – 18th addition wiring regulations certification
· Working experience of LV switchgear assemblies or control panels
