Job Overview
To support the safe and efficient operation of the Paint Division by preparing, coating, finishing, and inspecting metal components to customer specifications and quality standards. The Production Operative will work as part of a team to ensure products are processed accurately, safely, and delivered on time.
Pay and Hours
£12.71 per hour rising to £13.40 after probationary period.
Late shift Monday to Thursday 8:00-16:30 Friday 8:00-14:00
Responsibilities
- Prepare metal components for painting through cleaning, masking, jigging, and other pre-treatment processes.
- Operate powder coating and wet paint equipment in accordance with work instructions and specifications.
- Load and unload parts from curing ovens, and workstations.
- Perform basic visual inspections of finished products to ensure compliance with quality standards.
- Identify and report defects, equipment issues, and non-conforming products.
- Package finished goods ready for dispatch, ensuring products are protected from damage.
- Maintain accurate production records and complete relevant documentation.
- Follow production schedules and customer requirements to meet delivery deadlines.
- Carry out routine cleaning and housekeeping duties to maintain a safe and organised work environment.
- Assist with stock handling and movement of materials within the production area.
- Support continuous improvement activities to enhance quality, efficiency, and safety.
Health and Safety
- Comply with all company Health & Safety policies and procedures.
- Correctly use personal protective equipment (PPE) provided.
- Operate machinery and equipment safely and in accordance with training received.
- Report near misses, accidents, hazards, and unsafe conditions promptly.
- Handle paints, chemicals, and waste materials in line with environmental and safety requirements.
- Contribute to maintaining a clean and safe workplace.
