Full job description

Overview
We are seeking a reliable Kitchen Assistant to support our culinary team in delivering high-quality food. The successful candidate will play a vital role in food preparation and maintaining a clean, organised kitchen environment. This position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about hospitality and culinary arts to gain valuable experience within a dynamic setting or equally someone looking to work around school hours or other commitments, hours can be flexible to suit.

Responsibilities

Assist with food preparation, including chopping, peeling, and basic cooking tasks
Support chefs in the assembly of dishes and presentation of meals
Maintain cleanliness of kitchen surfaces, utensils, and equipment in accordance with health and safety standards
Restock supplies and ingredients as needed to ensure smooth kitchen operations
Assist with dishwashing duties and waste disposal to uphold hygiene standards
Follow all safety procedures and food handling regulations at all times
Support serving staff during busy periods by delivering meals or assisting with customer needs when required

Skills

Experience in food preparation and cooking is desirable but not essential; willingness to learn is important
Previous experience in a restaurant, hotel, or hospitality environment is advantageous but not essential
Knowledge of kitchen safety and hygiene practices
Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment
Good organisational skills and attention to detail
Friendly attitude with excellent communication skills
Flexibility to work various shifts including evenings or weekends if required
