Full job description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Academic Administrator to join our Clinical Medical Education team. This is a pivotal role supporting the delivery and administration of an undergraduate medical programme, overseeing student progression, course administration, assessments and examinations, while providing expert advice to academic colleagues and managing key administrative processes.

This role requires substantial, recent experience in senior academic administration within a Higher Education institution. Applications from candidates without significant Higher Education academic administration experience will not be considered.

Working closely with academic leaders, clinical staff, colleges and external partners, you will ensure the smooth operation of Year 4 Clinical Medicine administration and play a key role in delivering an outstanding student experience.

Key Responsibilities

As Senior Academic Administrator, you will:

Lead the administration of student progression from the pre-clinical to clinical medical course.
Manage Year 4 Clinical Medicine course administration, including teaching schedules, clinical placements, student records and Virtual Learning Environment (Canvas) content.
Act as Lead Administrator for Year 4 examinations, overseeing assessment planning, examination logistics, OSCE delivery, examination boards, results processing and resit arrangements.
Provide expert guidance on examination regulations, academic policies and University procedures.
Coordinate Occupational Health screening, DBS processes and student onboarding activities.
Produce reports, committee papers, agendas and minutes for educational committees and external regulatory reviews.
Line manage and support an Academic Administrator, including workload planning, recruitment, induction and staff development.
Build strong working relationships with academic staff, NHS partners, College Tutors, external examiners and professional services colleagues.
Deputise for the Clinical School Administration Manager when required.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:

Essential

Recent and substantial senior academic administration experience within a Higher Education institution (essential).
Experience of administering complex academic programmes, assessments and examination processes.
Excellent knowledge of Higher Education regulations, policies and academic governance.
Experience of committee administration, including preparing agendas, reports and minutes.
Experience of line management or supervising staff.
