About the Role

Cobbs Garden Surgery is looking to recruit a qualified and experienced pharmacy technician into our friendly practice, to play a full and active role within our multi-disciplinary team. The role is offered on a part time basis for 2-3 days per week. There is flexibility within this role, which will be discussed at interview stage.

The main duties and responsibilities of the role include:

Medicines optimisation, assisting with medication queries from patients, care homes and community pharmacies
Carry out medicine reconciliation for discharge letters, outpatient letters and new patient registrations
Oversee and maximise our Prescribing Incentive Scheme income
Identify and resolve discrepancies and liaise closely with Pharmacists and GP's
Promote medicines synchronisation and encourage patient adherence
Support the implementation of local and national prescribing initiatives, including performing medication switches as directed by prescribers or pharmacists
Maintain MHRA alerts and high risk drug monitoring records
Support safe prescribing support recall of patients when needed.
Contribute to medicines safety alerts implementation
Lead and contribute to audits and quality improvement relating to the effective prescribing of medicines
Manage medication related queries and escalate as appropriate
Analyse prescribing data and share with the wider team
Support patient education and promote safe care and patient self management
Engage in continuous professional development and attend clinical and educational meetings within the practice
Adhere to practice policies, clinical governance frameworks and safeguarding procedures.

About the Candidate

The successful candidate will have the following:

Registered pharmacy technician with the GPhC
Diploma Level 2/3 in pharmacy services, or equivalent
Previous experience in either a community pharmacy or a primary care setting
Previous experience of using SystmOne is essential

Cobbs Garden is based in Olney, a beautiful market town in north Buckinghamshire and we also serve the surrounding villages. We are proud of our current CQC rating which is good with an outstanding rating for responsiveness. Our multidisciplinary team is made up of a range of very experienced clinicians including six doctors, an advanced nurse practitioner, specialist women’s nurse, a treatment room nurse, chronic disease nurses, a physiotherapist, Health and Wellbeing Coach, HCA, phlebotomist and two care coordinators.
