Full job description

CSP Solutions is seeking an experienced, hands-on Senior IT Infrastructure Engineer to join our enterprise operations and systems engineering team in London. In this key role, you will lead the support, maintenance, scalability, and performance optimization of our core IT infrastructure, hybrid server environments, and enterprise networking systems.

Working closely with DevOps, Cybersecurity, and Service Desk teams, you will tackle Tier 3 technical escalations, lead infrastructure upgrades and migrations, and drive hardware and cloud integration strategies. This position balances systems administration with technical leadership, providing guidance to junior engineers while ensuring resilient, 24/7 system availability.

Key Responsibilities

Infrastructure Architecture & Management: Design, deploy, and maintain server environments (Windows Server and Linux), virtualized infrastructures (VMware vSphere / Hyper-V), and enterprise storage systems (SAN/NAS).
Network & Connectivity Administration: Configure, secure, and monitor core network devices, including firewalls, switches, routers, VPNs, VLANs, and SD-WAN networks.
Hybrid Cloud & Identity Infrastructure: Administer and optimize hybrid environments integrating Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD), Active Directory, Group Policy, Microsoft 365, and Azure cloud services.
Tier 3 Escalation & Problem Resolution: Serve as the senior technical lead for high-severity infrastructure incidents, conducting root-cause analyses and defining long-term preventative measures.
High Availability & Disaster Recovery: Maintain and test backup, disaster recovery, failover, and business continuity solutions (Veeam, Zerto, Site Recovery) to satisfy tight RPO/RTO targets.
Automation, Compliance & Mentorship: Script operational workflows using PowerShell or Bash, enforce security standards (ISO 27001, Cyber Essentials), and mentor junior systems engineers.

Skills & QualificationsEssential

5+ years of commercial experience as an IT Infrastructure Engineer, Senior Systems Engineer, or Systems Administrator in an enterprise environment.
Deep technical expertise in Windows Server (2016–2022) and Linux operating systems.
Strong virtualization experience using VMware vSphere/ESXi or Microsoft Hyper-V.
Solid networking background: TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, BGP/OSPF, VLANs, VPNs, and enterprise firewall administration (e.g., Fortinet, Cisco, Palo Alto).
Hands-on experience with Microsoft 365, Active Directory, and Azure/Entra ID identity access management.
Proficiency in operational scripting using PowerShell or Bash for administration and automation.
Proven background managing enterprise backup solutions and disaster recovery frameworks.

Desirable

Relevant Professional Certifications: Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate, VMware VCP, Cisco CCNA/CCNP, or CompTIA Network+/Security+.
Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) or configuration management tools (Terraform, Ansible).
Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS or Microsoft Azure) for hybrid workload migrations.
Experience in IT service management (ITSM) framework implementations (ITIL v4).
