# Role Overview
We are seeking a reliable and patient-focused Community Locum Pharmacist to provide professional pharmacy services. The successful candidate will ensure the safe and effective dispensing of medications, deliver excellent customer care, and support the pharmacy team in maintaining high professional and regulatory standards.
The ideal candidate will be adaptable, organised, and confident working independently in fast-paced pharmacy environments.
## Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Dispense prescription medicines accurately and efficiently in line with legal and professional requirements.
- Provide expert advice on prescription and over-the-counter medications.
- Counsel patients on the safe use of medicines, dosage, side effects, and interactions.
- Deliver clinical services such as contraception where applicable.
- Ensure compliance with General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) standards and pharmacy SOPs.
- Maintain accurate patient medication records and pharmacy documentation.
- Support and supervise pharmacy dispensers, and counter staff.
- Manage controlled drugs and ensure appropriate storage and record-keeping procedures are followed.
- Promote health awareness and public health campaigns within the community.
- Handle patient queries and resolve medication-related issues professionally.
- Ensure the pharmacy operates safely, efficiently, and in accordance with all legal requirements.
- Liaise with GPs, healthcare professionals, and local healthcare providers when necessary.
- Maintain stock control and assist with ordering medications if required.
## Required Skills and Experience
- Registered Pharmacist with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
- Previous experience working in a community pharmacy setting.
- Strong knowledge of pharmacy legislation and NHS pharmacy services.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and adapt quickly to different pharmacy environments.
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
- Proficient in pharmacy dispensing systems and IT software.
- Ability to manage workload effectively in busy environments.
- Commitment to delivering high-quality patient care.
## Desirable Experience
- Experience providing NHS and private pharmacy services.
- Independent Prescriber qualification (desirable but not essential).
- Experience with pharmacy management systems such as PMR software.
- Previous locum experience across multiple pharmacy branches.
## Working Hours
Flexible shifts including weekdays and weekends, depending on business needs.
