We are seeking an enthusiastic team player who wants to learn.
This is a full time position Working 5 out of 7 days Monday to Sunday, on a rotated basis.
About the role
You will be at the heart of the operations here at Pure Garden Buildings in Brixham, supporting our Garden centre and our delivery teams, and helping us keep the company standard we pride ourselves on.
This role is suited to a very “Hands On” individual with a can do mind set
As a General Assistant, your duties may include but not limited to:
- Organising our stock in our yard / Moving and rearranging stock
- Loading and unloading of lorries for incoming/ outgoing stock using a forklift
- Unloading incoming Container deliveries using a forklift
- Quality checking of items
- Picking stock ready for all delivery staff
- Loading vans ready for all delivery staff using a forklift
- Preparing customer returns or damaged boxes ready for resale
- General housekeeping - Keeping both the garden centre and yard clean and tidy
- General and on going works to the premises including Using basic tools, jet washers, or machinery to keep the yard buildings clean
- Stock checks
- Assisting with Building display buildings
- Maintenance of display buildings including general repair and painting
- Building stands / point of sale and eye-catching displays
- Erecting heavy windbreak netting, structures, and shade cloths over outdoor display beds
- Repairing broken display benches and displays
- Assisting with the general maintenance of the delivery vehicles, including daily weekly checks. .
- Providing font line customer service in the main garden centre .
- Refilling stock in the garden centre/ facing up, (which will include heavy stock movement such as stone pots, concrete ornaments,compost and trees) and price items
- Plant Care inc Watering & Maintenance
Seasonal:
- Unload, net, and trim large real Christmas trees, then secure them onto display stands.
- Carry Christmas trees to the customer wrapping station and load them into car boots.
- Build heavy-duty seasonal displays, including timber grotto structures, christmas tress display stands, and dismantle them at the end of the season
All training will be provided.
Selection Criteria:
The ideal candidate will be physically fit, hardworking and enjoy working as part of a team and as well as working on their own using their own initiative.
This is a manual position that involves some heavy lifting and forklift driving.
Being a growing business, you will need to be flexible and reliable. You may be asked to complete other tasks within the business
- You can pay attention to detail, enough to notice errors when you receive goods or pick them for a delivery.
- You love working in a team and always try to maintain good relationships with other colleagues..
- You know the essentials of safety and quality standards and procedures.
- Strict adherence to workplace health and safety rules, especially when operating machinery near the public
- You can work with minimal supervision and manage your own workload.
- You don’t turn a blind eye to issues, but instead you jump on them and have a strong desire to solve them.
- You are willing to learn about our seasonal products and operational procedures
- Capable of frequent heavy manual handling, bending, pushing, and standing for long shifts
- Willing to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- A full, clean UK driving licence held for over 2 years.
- A forklift licence or experience is an advantage.

Pay: £13.50 per hour
