Portering Supervisor

Location: Coventry, CV2 2DX
Hours of work: 37.5 (4 on / 4 off | Day shifts: 06:00 - 18:00 | Night shifts: 18:00 - 06:00)

We are seeking a Portering Supervisor to assist the Head of Portering in the day-to-day management of the Portering department, ensuring that the service meets all contractual obligations and business objectives.
The role focuses on leading and supporting the portering team to deliver safe, efficient, and high-quality services.
Job Description
The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining operational standards, addressing and escalating issues where required, and ensuring staff are effectively deployed to provide a seamless service that supports both patient experience and clinical operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, support, and guide portering staff to deliver efficient and compliant services
- Maintain a safe working environment in line with legislation and policies
- Ensure appropriate staffing levels and escalate resource needs
- Allocate staff effectively to maintain service flow and patient experience
- Make daily operational decisions, escalating where necessary
- Monitor service performance and implement improvements
- Act on audit outcomes and ensure compliance with required standards
- Promote clear communication and positive team working
Professional and Personal Competencies/Qualifications
- Supervisory or team leadership experience, ideally in a healthcare setting
- Strong leadership and team management skills
- Knowledge of health and safety requirements
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Good organisational and problem-solving ability
- Experience of staff management processes (e.g. absence, discipline, training)
- Ability to monitor performance and drive improvements
- Flexible, proactive approach to changing demands
