Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Quality Control Manager to lead our Materials Testing Laboratory. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing laboratory operations, ensuring compliance with international testing standards, supervising quality control personnel, and maintaining the highest levels of product quality and laboratory performance.
The role requires strong technical expertise in materials testing, laboratory quality management, and quality assurance systems. Typical responsibilities include overseeing laboratory testing, managing QC staff, ensuring compliance with ISO quality systems, investigating non-conformities, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day operations of the Quality Control Laboratory.
- Supervise laboratory technicians and quality control personnel.
- Ensure testing is conducted in accordance with ASTM, ISO, and other applicable standards.
- Maintain laboratory accreditation and quality management systems.
- Review and approve laboratory test reports and quality documentation.
- Monitor product quality and investigate non-conformities and customer complaints.
- Develop and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Ensure laboratory equipment calibration, maintenance, and verification programs are maintained.
- Conduct internal audits and support external audits.
- Coordinate with production, engineering, and project teams to ensure compliance with product specifications.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance laboratory efficiency and testing reliability.
- Check daily test reports and type up test reports as and when required.
- Collaborate with production, engineering, and supplier teams to resolve quality-related problems promptly.
- Provide training and guidance to staff on quality standards, procedures, and best practices.
- Stay updated with industry developments and incorporate innovative quality assurance techniques into organisational practices.
- Experience with laboratory accreditation programs and quality audits.
- Analyse quality data to identify trends, root causes of issues, and opportunities for process optimisation.
- Lead and supervise the quality assurance team to ensure adherence to quality standards throughout the production process.
- Conduct regular inspections and audits of products, processes, and facilities to identify areas for improvement.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 5–10 years of experience in construction materials, or manufacturing quality control.
- Proven experience managing a testing laboratory and quality systems.
- Familiarity with ASTM, ISO and QA/QC standards.
- Experience with ISO 17025 quality management systems.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and laboratory data management systems.
Pay: £14.85-£15.00 per hour
