Full job description

This is an exciting opportunity for an IT Assistant to join our IT Department within our innovative firm of Solicitors.

As 1st Line Support, this role would suit someone with a positive, can-do attitude who is willing and able to support the IT needs of staff across the Practice. The successful applicant will provide day-to-day support and assistance to the existing IT team in relation to hardware, software and general IT issues within the business. The successful candidate will receive training across a variety of tasks in order to gain broad experience within a small and busy IT Department.

As this is an office-based role, applicants should be local to Taunton or within a reasonable commuting distance.

Job Description

To assist the IT Department and provide support with software and hardware issues as necessary
Provide 1st line support to all users across the firm, offering them support and guidance in the use of our operating systems and associated software
Develop skills and knowledge across various areas of IT support and systems
Support the preparation, maintenance and refurbishment of IT equipment
Provide support on the companies’ case management software, escalating when required
Ad-hoc administrative duties as and when required

Person Specification

Essential

Enthusiasm to learn new systems and skills, with a demonstrable interest in IT
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Friendly, positive approach
Ability to work as part of a team
Excellent computer literacy
Confident in using MS operating systems and MS Office products (Word, Outlook and Excel)
Self-motivated and proactive, able to troubleshoot
Excellent organisational skills
Understanding of a range of IT software and hardware

Desirable

Experience working within a professional services or legal environment
