Job Introduction
Repton Prep is looking to appoint a dynamic and forward-thinking Head of Design & Technology, who is an outstanding classroom practitioner with the skills and experience to deliver first class teaching and outcomes for our pupils.
This is a wonderful opportunity to join one of the leading Prep Schools as a Head of Department, working alongside teachers who promote excellence both in and out of the classroom, in 55-acres of inspirational facilities. As the Head of Design & Technology, they will drive the strategy forwards for this flourishing department and enjoy a close and collaborative relationship with the Senior School.

Main Responsibilities
As Head of Design and Technology, you will be involved in multiple areas of the School, including Teaching, Pastoral and Whole School responsibilities, not limited to:

Teaching a timetable of lessons to pupils from Years 3-8 as directed by the Deputy Head Academic.

Promote DT internally and externally, by organising special events, exhibitions and trips, displays
of subject work, and contribute annually to the school magazine.

Be a Form Tutor within Years 5-8 (as directed by the Deputy Head Pastoral & Boarding).

Contributing to either the day or boarding duty rota schedule (depending on resident status).

Contribuiting to the activities programme by offering after school activities, as allocated according to areas of interest or specialism.

The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will likely be able to demonstrate the following key qualities:

An excellent teacher– energetic, pragmatic, robust and resourceful, putting the pupils at the
forefront of decision making.

Experienced in using IT in the classroom and for administration and manipulating data.

Good honours degree and relevant teaching qualification – QTS essential.

A sound understanding of Safeguarding and Child Protection issues.

Have the skills to be a part of an inclusive and diverse school community, valuing and promoting inclusion.

About Repton School
Repton is the ancient capital of Mercia, and the School, founded in 1557 from a bequest from Sir John Port of Etwall, was established on the site of a 7th century Anglo-Saxon Benedictine abbey and latterly a 12th century Augustinian priory and the School today incorporates many of the original buildings from the estate.
The School has over one thousand pupils across the Prep and Senior School, making it large enough to achieve excellence in and out of the classroom, yet small enough for individuals to grow and succeed. Repton and Repton Prep have always enjoyed a very close relationship and in 2020, the schools became a through-school.
