Relief PSV/Coach Driver & Operations Assistant
About the Role
WOW Scotland is a leading Scottish coach tour operator, and we’re looking for a reliable, practical person to join our team in a flexible support capacity. This role would be ideal for someone who is retired or semi-retired and wants to maintain involvement in the industry, although we would welcome any applicants who are able to other flexibility.
You won’t be driving tours (unless this is something you'd like to do!) — instead, you’ll be the person behind the scenes making sure everything runs smoothly: moving vehicles, running them to the garage, carrying out routine checks, and stepping in behind the wheel when we need an extra pair of hands.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Taking vehicles to mechanics for routine maintenance and repairs
- Assisting with vehicle movements as required
- Fuelling vehicles and topping up AdBlue and screen wash
- Carrying out weekly vehicle checks, including tyre inspections
- Occasionally doing morning vehicle checks and bringing a coach to the bus stop to help our drivers stay within their legal working hours
- Responding to breakdowns by bringing out a replacement vehicle
Hours & Flexibility
We anticipate around 5–10 hours per week, though this will vary. The role is seasonal, and runs until the start of October. Some weeks may be busier; others quieter. We understand that people considering this role are not looking for full-time work, and we will never ask you to take on more than you’re comfortable with.
On days when you are asked to be on call you will be paid a minimum of 3 hours, plus your normal hourly rate for any time you are actually called out.
We may take on more than one person for this role, so even if you can only commit to a few days a week, we’d encourage you to get in touch.
What We Need From You
Essential
- Valid D Licence
- Valid Driver CPC card (we can cover the cost of renewal if yours has lapsed)
- Valid Driver Card
Useful (but not essential)
- Previous experience in tour driving (or tour guiding)
- Basic knowledge of vehicle maintenance
- A practical, can-do attitude and willingness to be flexible at short notice
