Full job description

Marriott Motor Group is seeking an experienced and motivated Group Accounts Supervisor to oversee the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions across the Group.

Working pattern: This is a hybrid role, working 40 hours per week, with 2 days per week based in the office at Ipswich Audi.

This is an excellent opportunity for a finance professional with strong transactional finance experience who enjoys taking ownership, driving high standards of financial control and compliance, and contributing directly to the smooth and efficient operation of the finance function.

Reporting into senior finance leadership, you will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy, integrity and effectiveness of AP and AR processes, supporting month-end activities, improving controls and procedures, and acting as a key point of contact for stakeholders across the business. You will also provide guidance and oversight to a team of experienced Accounts Clerks.

Key Responsibilities

Accounts Payable & Accounts Receivable Oversight

Oversee all Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable activities across the Group.
Ensure supplier invoices, customer invoicing, payments, credit notes and cash allocations are processed accurately and efficiently.
Review and maintain supplier, customer and intercompany account records.
Monitor aged creditor and debtor balances, ensuring issues are identified and resolved promptly.
Support effective cash flow management through strong creditor and debtor control.
Assist with month-end processes, reconciliations and ledger reviews.

Compliance, Controls & Governance

Take ownership of compliance within AP and AR functions, ensuring processes align with company policies, financial controls and audit requirements.
Maintain robust controls to minimise financial risk and ensure transactional accuracy.
Monitor adherence to established procedures and identify areas requiring improvement.
Support internal and external audit requirements by providing accurate and timely information.
Ensure confidential and financial information is managed in accordance with GDPR and company policies.
Identify, investigate and escalate potential financial risks or control weaknesses where appropriate.

Process Improvement & Systems

Continuously review existing processes and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, accuracy and control.
Support the implementation of system enhancements and process improvements across the finance function.
Develop and maintain clear process documentation and operating procedures.
Analyse transactional and performance data to support informed decision-making and improved business outcomes.
Champion consistent and effective use of finance systems and reporting tools.

Team Support & Leadership

Provide guidance, expertise and support to a team of experienced Accounts Clerks.
Act as an escalation point for complex supplier, customer and ledger queries.
Support knowledge sharing, best practice and continuous improvement within the team.
Contribute to employee development through coaching, feedback and performance support where required.

About You

Essential Skills & Experience

Proven experience within Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Credit Control or a transactional finance environment, with previous responsibility for reconciliations, month-end activities and financial controls.
Previous experience in a supervisory, senior or team leader role, with the ability to support colleagues, manage priorities and maintain high standards of accuracy and service delivery.
Strong knowledge of financial controls, compliance requirements, audit processes and effective debtor and creditor management.
Strong systems, Excel and reporting skills, with experience identifying process improvements.
AAT Level 4 qualified (or equivalent) is preferred
