Position Summary:
A metallurgical plant operating as part of a large global organisation is recruiting for a Production Planner I to join their team. The Production Planner I will be responsible for planning activities of the assigned department by scheduling and prioritising activities in collaboration with site supervisors. Using management systems to achieve the assigned planning and scheduling objectives. Be responsible for effective planning, scheduling, communication, preparations, forecasting, and monitoring inventory levels & reporting.
Duties Overview:
- Through close interaction with supervision, determine raw materials, WIP requirements and finished goods packaging taking into consideration the operations capabilities to develop daily, monthly and long-term production plans consistent with the corporate master plan and schedules.
- Prepare and communicate plant production schedules on a daily, weekly and monthly basis in close coordination with the Operations Manager and Regional S&OP requirements to optimise customer satisfaction and production efficiencies.
- Confer with supervision to determine status of the production schedule. Expedite production on a routine basis minimise impact of schedule delays and implement effective alternatives in coordination with other producing sites to obtain optimal supply chain efficiencies.
- Work with maintenance planning to coordinate “turn-arounds” or shutdowns in coordination with Master Production and Planning needs of the Company.
- Responsible for the integrity of the S & OP planning data, including inventory levels as reported on a routine basis. Preparation of various production and inventory reports.
- May prepare purchase or release orders to obtain necessary materials as determined by the Planned Independent Requirement from MRP.
- Initiate and/or confirm Stock Transfer Orders to transfer inventory to other processing sites in support of the MRP.
- Understand the importance of maintaining the integrity of information in the SAP management system, for assigned area.
- Execute MRP at the site and initiates appropriate actions to meet the requirement of the master plan.
- Prepare long-range projections in support of other business forecasting needs (e.g., staffing, capital).
- Performs other duties as required.
Position Requirements:
- With legal right to live and work in the UK.
- Educated to GCSE standard or NVQ level1 and four (4) years specific experience in field of industrial operations, OR
- Educated to GCSE standard or NVQ level 1 and four (4) years related experience in field of industrial operations which would include two (2) years of specific Planning experience, OR
- Bachelor's degree in applicable field and one (1) year related experience in field of industrial operations.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Skills in computer applications (excel & word).
- Demonstrate safety leadership.
- Ability and willingness to do some traveling.
Desired Position Requirements:
- APICS Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) or equivalent certification is desirable.
- SAP proficient and good Microsoft Excel skills.

Pay: £28,500.00-£38,000.00 per year
