Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Transport Manager to oversee and optimise our logistics and transportation operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing transportation activities, supervising staff, and ensuring efficient supply chain processes. This role offers an excellent opportunity for a professional with a strong background in logistics, warehouse management, and process improvement to contribute to organisational success.

Duties

Oversee daily transportation operations, including shipping and receiving activities, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery of goods.
Supervise transport staff, including drivers and warehouse personnel, fostering a productive and compliant working environment.
Utilise transportation management systems (TMS), ERP systems, and Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) to plan routes, monitor shipments, and optimise logistics workflows.
Manage relationships with third-party logistics providers (3PL) to coordinate freight services and negotiate contracts.
Monitor profit & loss statements related to transportation activities, identifying areas for cost reduction and process optimisation.
Implement continuous improvement initiatives within the supply chain and logistics functions to enhance efficiency and service quality.
Ensure compliance with safety regulations, including forklift operation standards and warehouse safety protocols.
Analyse data from AS400 systems and other platforms to support decision-making processes.
Coordinate shipping & receiving schedules, optimise warehouse space utilisation, and oversee inventory accuracy.
Lead process improvement projects aimed at streamlining operations across the supply chain.

Requirements

Proven supervising experience within logistics or warehouse environments.
Strong knowledge of transportation management systems (TMS), ERP systems, WMS, and AS400 platforms.
Experience working with 3PL providers, shipping & receiving procedures, and warehouse management practices.
Familiarity with forklift operation and warehouse safety standards.
Demonstrated ability in process improvement initiatives within supply chain or logistics functions.
Strong understanding of profit & loss management related to transportation activities.
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
Knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies such as Lean or Six Sigma is desirable.
Prior experience in logistics or supply chain management is essential; a background in freight forwarding or distribution is advantageous.
