About Echelon Media
Echelon Media is an award-winning digital marketing agency based in Colchester, Essex. Founded by two brothers with a shared belief that great marketing should be honest, creative, and built around real results, we've grown into a seven-strong team working with ambitious businesses across Essex and London.
We work across SEO, PPC, paid social, web design, and content marketing, operating out of the heart of Tiptree, which has become a proper home for the kind of agency we always wanted to build. One where people genuinely care about the work, where clients are treated as partners, and where the team is as important as the output.
Seven industry awards later, we're still driven by the same thing: doing brilliant work for businesses that deserve it — and doing it with a team we're proud of.
About the Role
We are looking for an experienced and commercially minded SEO Manager to lead our organic search strategy and drive measurable growth for our clients. This is a hands-on role for someone who is equally comfortable in the weeds of technical audits as they are presenting strategy to stakeholders. You will own SEO performance end-to-end — from keyword research and content strategy through to technical implementation and reporting.

- Conduct in-depth keyword research, competitor analysis, and market opportunity assessments
- Set measurable KPIs, track performance, and produce clear reporting against targets
Technical SEO
- Perform regular technical audits covering site speed, crawlability, indexation, Core Web Vitals, and schema markup
- Work with developers and web teams to implement technical recommendations
- Monitor and resolve issues using tools such as Google Search Console, Screaming Frog, and Ahrefs
Content & On-Page
- Brief and oversee the production of SEO-optimised content, including service pages, blog articles, and landing pages
- Conduct on-page optimisation, including title tags, meta descriptions, header structure, and internal linking
- Identify content gaps and topical authority opportunities to grow organic visibility
Link Building & Off-Page
- Develop and manage white-hat link acquisition campaigns, including digital PR, outreach, and partnerships
- Monitor backlink profiles and manage toxic link disavowal processes
Reporting & Communication
- Produce regular performance reports with clear insights and actionable recommendations
- Present results and strategy to clients or senior stakeholders with confidence
- Keep up to date with algorithm updates and industry developments, communicating implications to the wider team
Client Management
- Act as the day-to-day SEO point of contact for a portfolio of clients, building strong working relationships built on trust and transparency
- Lead regular client calls and check-ins, confidently presenting performance data, strategy updates, and recommendations
- Manage client expectations proactively — communicating clearly on timelines, deliverables, and any changes in approach
- Collaborate with internal teams including PPC, paid social, and web design to ensure a joined-up approach to client accounts
- Identify opportunities to grow accounts through additional services or expanded scope, flagging these to the relevant team lead
- Handle day-to-day client queries promptly and professionally, maintaining the high service standards Echelon is known for
Required Skills & Experience
- 3+ years of SEO experience in an agency or in-house environment
- Proven track record of delivering organic growth across competitive industries
