Learn Scilly is looking for a friendly and knowledgeable Community Digital Support Assistant to facilitate our IT drop‑in sessions at St Mary’s Library. This is a great opportunity for someone passionate about digital inclusion and helping adults build their confidence with everyday technology.
As a Casual Community Digital Support Assistant you will facilitate informal weekly IT drop‑in sessions, offering guidance and support to adult learners with a wide range of digital abilities. You will help people with tasks such as using email, navigating the internet, completing online forms, accessing digital services, or getting to grips with their personal devices. You’ll create a welcoming and inclusive environment, supporting individuals to build their skills, overcome digital barriers, and feel more confident using technology in their daily lives.
The successful applicant will have strong, up‑to‑date digital skills and the ability to explain IT concepts clearly to adults with varying levels of confidence. They will be patient, approachable and supportive, creating a welcoming environment while working independently during the drop‑in sessions, which operate on a rota of approximately two hours every three to four weeks. Good communication skills, professionalism and discretion are essential, along with a willingness to complete required training such as safeguarding and Prevent. Experience supporting adults with digital skills and an understanding of digital inclusion would be advantageous.
