Full job description

Job Description

To provide a range of high-quality support services across Libraries, Learning Centres and Heritage.
Support internal and external customers as required with core library functions including stock processing and collection management
To provide excellent customer service at all times and implement a “can do” culture contributing to the overall success of the service area and the organisation as a whole.

Responsibilities

Carry out the acquisitions and ordering of a wide range of stock and other materials
Work with library branches to ensure collections are well maintained and reflective of community need, supporting deliveries of stock when required
Support the provision of a reader focussed service through monitoring relevant data and identifying trends
Comply with the financial and administrative procedures of the Council
Participate in training and development opportunities on an ongoing basis.
Ensure the general security of the building and the necessary level of health and safety.

The Individual

Experience of working within a team in an administrative environment.
3 National 5 qualifications or equivalent or equivalent experience
Proven ICT skills – (if not already held it will be a condition of employment that ICDL training is undertaken)
Excellent communication skills
Excellent team working skills with the ability to work collaboratively and co-operatively with colleagues
Ability to work unsupervised and use own initiative
Proven ICT skills and enthusiasm for keeping up to date with new technology
Experience of communicating effectively with a variety of audiences.
Ability to problem solve
Physically able – bending, stretching, lifting, aids or adaptations can be considered
Ability to work flexibly, across multiple locations, to meet the needs and demands of the service.

Work Pattern: Monday to Friday

Closing Date: 4th September 2026
Starting Salary: £26,898.95
£14.27 per hour
36.25 Hours per week
