Job Summary
We are seeking a reliable and proactive Drivers Assistant to support our bulk delivery operations. The ideal candidate will assist with loading, unloading, and securing loads. Checking paperwork thoroughly before leaving and during deliveries to ensure a smooth, efficient delivery. All deliveries are to be carried out in a safe and timely manner. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a passion for logistics and customer service to develop their skills within a dynamic team environment. The position involves working closely with drivers and the operations team to facilitate deliveries across various locations in East Kent. Candidates should possess strong communication skills, and ideally have experience with other delivery roles.
Please note:
1) This role includes heavy lifting and is physically demanding.
2) During quieter times when deliveries are not scheduled, you will be expected to assist with other work at the garden centre or any other part of the business.
Responsibilities
- Assist the driver with loading and unloading bulk bags safely and efficiently.
- Support the driver in navigating routes and ensuring timely deliveries.
- Ensure all loads are secure while in transit.
- Help with warehouse organisation, including stock movement and inventory checks.
- Communicate effectively with customers before and during deliveries, providing excellent customer service.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the vehicle interior and exterior.
- Follow all health and safety policies and procedures throughout all tasks performed.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in commercial driving or as a delivery driver is preferred..
- Strong communication skills for liaising with customers and team members.
- Ability to operate within health and safety guidelines at all times.
- Demonstrated reliability, punctuality, and organisational skills are required for success in this role. This position provides an engaging opportunity for motivated individuals eager to learn, develop and move upwards.
This role is working Monday - Friday (08:00 - 17:00) with weekends off.

Pay: From £12.71 per hour
