Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Tile Setter to join our customer care team, entering occupied properties for repairs and defect resolution. The successful candidate will be responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining various types of tiles in residential and commercial properties. This role requires a strong understanding of construction processes, excellent craftsmanship, and the ability to interpret schematics and technical drawings. The Tile Setter will work closely with other tradespeople to ensure high-quality finishes that meet client specifications and safety standards.
Duties
- Prepare surfaces by cleaning, levelling, and applying suitable adhesives or mortar before tile installation
- Measure and mark out tile layouts according to project plans or schematics
- Cut tiles accurately using hand tools, power tools, or specialised equipment to fit edges, corners, or around fixtures
- Install tiles on floors, walls, and ceilings ensuring proper alignment and adhesion
- Grout and seal tiles to achieve a durable finish that meets aesthetic standards
- Repair or replace damaged tiles as required
- Collaborate with carpenters, painters, and other trades to ensure seamless integration of tiled surfaces within overall construction projects
- Maintain a clean and organised work environment adhering to health and safety regulations
Skills
- Proven experience in construction with a focus on tiling or related trades such as carpentry or construction painting
- Proficiency in using hand tools such as trowels, chisels, levels, and measuring tapes
- Ability to operate power tools safely and effectively for cutting and shaping tiles
- Strong understanding of schematics, technical drawings, and project specifications
- Good organisational skills with the ability to plan work efficiently on-site
- Attention to detail ensuring precise installation and finishing standards
- Physical stamina for lifting heavy materials and working in various environmental conditions
- Knowledge of health and safety protocols relevant to construction sites
