Truck Driver – Plant Hire

Location: Keynsham
Job Type: Full-Time

Salary: Negotiable (depending on experience)
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, with the possibility of weekend work when required.

Job Overview

We are currently seeking a reliable and professional Truck Driver to join our Plant Hire team based in Keynsham. The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe and timely transportation of plant machinery across various locations, ensuring deliveries and collections are completed efficiently while maintaining high standards of safety and professionalism.

This role will primarily involve deliveries within Bristol and the surrounding areas, as well as routes across Wales. It is an excellent opportunity for an experienced driver looking to join a dynamic and growing operation.

Key Responsibilities

Safely operate flatbed lorries and other commercial vehicles to transport plant machinery and equipment.
Complete deliveries and collections in a timely and professional manner.
Plan routes effectively to meet delivery schedules and optimise fuel efficiency.
Carry out pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure vehicles remain safe and compliant with regulations.
Secure machinery and equipment correctly on flatbeds to prevent damage during transit.
Maintain accurate records including delivery notes, logs, and documentation.
Communicate effectively with the office, dispatch team, and customers regarding delivery schedules and any delays.
Comply with all road safety regulations and company policies at all times.
Assist with loading and unloading plant machinery where required, ensuring safe handling procedures are followed.
Use company mobile apps or tablets to manage delivery information and job updates.

Requirements and Skills

Valid commercial driving licence with a clean driving record.
Proven experience driving commercial vehicles, particularly flatbed lorries.
Experience transporting and loading/unloading plant machinery is highly desirable.
Strong understanding of road safety regulations and best practices in commercial driving.
Previous delivery driving experience with a focus on reliability and efficiency.
Ability to operate vehicles safely and responsibly in a range of environments.
Good communication skills when dealing with customers and colleagues.
Strong organisational skills for route planning and managing delivery documentation.
Physically capable of assisting with loading and unloading equipment when required.
Comfortable using mobile apps or tablets for job management.
