The role
Our long-standing dispensing optician is reducing his hours, so we're looking for a full-time dispensing optician or experienced optical retailer to join our established team. You will work alongside him and the rest of the practice, with the benefit of a proper handover from someone who knows the practice and its patients inside out.
Day to day, you will:
- Dispense spectacles and prescription sunglasses, including complex and high-value lens work (single vision, occupational and varifocal lenses, tints and coatings)
- Take accurate measurements (PDs, heights, fitting parameters) and ensure every frame leaves perfectly fitted using Zeiss Visufit 1000.
- Guide patients through frame selection, matching style, fit, prescription and lifestyle
- Carry out adjustments, repairs and aftercare
- Support the smooth running of the practice: collections, recalls, merchandising and stock care
Who we're looking for
Either a GOC-registered Dispensing Optician (FBDO or equivalent), or an experienced optical retailer/optical assistant with strong dispensing experience who is confident with prescriptions, measurements and lens recommendations.
You'll also bring:
- A genuine feel for patient care — knowledgeable, patient, personal service is what we're known for
- Accuracy and care with detail — much of our work involves premium frames and lenses
- An interest in fashion and quality eyewear (experience with designer brands is a plus, not a must)
- Flexibility and teamwork — you'll be sharing responsibilities with our existing dispensing optician
