Workshop Assistant / Receptionist (Full-Time)
We are looking for a reliable, organised, and hardworking Workshop Assistant / Receptionist to join our busy small garage team. This is a varied hands-on role combining customer service, workshop administration, and practical support within the garage and vehicle sales operation.
The ideal candidate will be confident dealing with customers, comfortable in a fast-paced environment, and willing to assist wherever needed to help keep the business running smoothly.
Working Hours
- Monday to Friday: 8:30am – 5:00pm
- Full-time position
- 28 days holiday entitlement (including bank holidays)
Responsibilities
- Answer incoming phone calls and deal with customer enquiries professionally
- Book customers into the workshop for servicing, repairs, MOTs, diagnostics, and inspections
- Keep workshop bookings organised and maintain schedules
- Order parts required for workshop jobs and monitor deliveries
- Liaise with customers regarding bookings, repair updates, and vehicle collections
- Assist with customer enquiries relating to vehicle sales, providing information over the phone and in person
- Help keep on top of vehicle preparation and presentation for sale
- Move vehicles around site for detailing, bodywork, workshop preparation, and storage
- Carry out vehicle test drives with sale customers where required
- Support the workshop team with practical day-to-day duties when needed
- Assist with MOT testing within our two-person MOT lane
- Maintain a clean and organised working environment, including sweeping floors, emptying bins, and general housekeeping
- Carry out general administrative and clerical tasks as required
Requirements
- Good communication and customer service skills
- Confident and professional telephone manner
- Strong organisational skills and ability to multitask
- Comfortable working in a busy garage environment
- Basic computer skills and ability to manage bookings, emails, and records
- Willingness to assist both in the office and workshop where needed
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Full UK driving licence required
- Reliable, proactive, and hardworking attitude
