The role:

As a Domestic Assistant within NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, you will play a vital role in supporting safe, clean, and welcoming environments across our healthcare settings. Working at Dumbarton Joint Hospital, you will contribute directly to patient care by ensuring the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene are consistently maintained. Band 2 roles are not eligible for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker or Health and Care Worker visa routes.

Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:

You will be based at Dumbarton Joint Hospital
Part Time, Permanent
Working Monday to Thursday 16:00 to 20:00 and Friday 16:00 to 19:45

Please note the salary is Pro Rata for part-time hours.

Key responsibilities:

Carry out cleaning duties across wards, clinical and non-clinical areas in line with agreed schedules and infection control standards
Maintain the cleanliness of sanitary areas, corridors, offices, kitchens, and residential accommodation
Safely handle, bag, and dispose of waste in accordance with Waste Management procedures
Replenish supplies such as paper products, soap, and other consumables
Clean and maintain domestic service rooms and all cleaning equipment
Report faults or maintenance issues relating to equipment or building fabric to the Domestic Supervisor
Undertake additional domestic duties such as dishwashing, bed making, basic food preparation, and supporting ward-based activities as required

Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:

Previous experience in a cleaning or domestic role within a healthcare or similar environment is desirable
Willingness to undertake all mandatory training, including Infection Control, COSHH, Fire Safety, and Moving and Handling
Ability to follow cleaning schedules, procedures, and instructions with attention to detail
Understanding of hygiene standards and commitment to maintaining a safe environment
Good communication skills to interact with staff, patients, and visitors in a professional manner
Physical ability to carry out manual handling tasks and use cleaning equipment safely
Flexible and reliable approach to work with the ability to adapt in a busy healthcare setting
