Role Overview
Pure Renewables Commercial Ltd is one of the UK's leading industrial renewable energy EPC companies, specialising in commercial and industrial heat pump systems, energy centres and low-carbon heating solutions.
We are looking for an enthusiastic Apprentice Refrigeration & Service Engineer to join our growing Service & Maintenance team.
This apprenticeship provides an exciting opportunity to develop practical engineering skills whilst working alongside experienced engineers on commercial refrigeration, industrial heat pumps, heating systems and renewable energy installations across the UK.
The successful candidate will receive structured training through both an approved apprenticeship provider and on-the-job experience, gaining nationally recognised qualifications whilst building a long-term career within the renewable energy industry.
Key Responsibilities
Working under the guidance of experienced engineers, you will:
Assist with the installation, servicing and maintenance of commercial and industrial refrigeration systems.
Support engineers carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM).
Attend breakdowns and fault-finding visits.
Learn to diagnose refrigeration, electrical and mechanical faults.
Assist with commissioning new equipment.
Carry out routine inspections of refrigeration and heat pump systems.
Learn safe refrigerant handling procedures.
Assist with system performance testing.
Complete service reports using company software.
Maintain company equipment and tools.
Ensure work areas remain clean, safe and organised.
Follow all Health & Safety legislation and company procedures.
Build strong working relationships with customers.
Represent Pure Renewables professionally at all times.
Attend training as required such health & safety, environmental, quality control & assurance processes and other industry related training.
Completion of job-related documentation and reports.

Responsibilities
The Apprentice will:
Attend college and complete all apprenticeship coursework.
Attend other industry related training.
Maintain satisfactory attendance and punctuality.
Demonstrate a willingness to learn.
Ask questions and seek guidance when required.
Take ownership of personal development.
Follow instructions from supervisors and mentors.
Maintain accurate training records.
Care for company vehicles, tools and equipment.
Work safely at all times.
Person Specification
Essential
GCSEs (or predicted GCSEs) including:
Maths
English
Science
Interest in engineering or renewable energy.
Positive attitude.
Strong work ethic.
Good communication skills.
Willingness to travel.
Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Full UK Driving Licence (or willingness to obtain during apprenticeship).
Travelling to different sites in the UK (with some overnight stays)
Desirable
Engineering qualification or vocational studies.
Practical mechanical aptitude.
Experience using hand tools.
Interest in refrigeration, heating or renewable technologies.
The Apprentice is responsible for:
Working safely at all times.
Wearing & maintaining appropriate PPE.
Following risk assessments and method statements.
Reporting accidents, incidents and near misses.
Complying with company Health & Safety policies.
