Scrapyard Worker / Vehicle Dismantler
We are seeking a reliable and hardworking Scrapyard Worker to join our busy vehicle recycling and dismantling operation. The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe dismantling and depollution of end-of-life vehicles while maintaining high standards of health and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate forklifts safely and efficiently within the scrapyard.
- Remove wheels and tyres from vehicles using appropriate tools and equipment.
- Strip tyres from wheels where required.
- Carry out vehicle depollution processes, including the safe removal and disposal of:
- Engine oil
- Fuel
- Coolant
- Brake fluid
- Other vehicle fluids
- Remove batteries and other hazardous components from vehicles.
- Dismantle vehicles in accordance with company procedures and environmental regulations.
- Sort and separate recyclable materials and vehicle parts.
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment.
- Follow all health and safety policies and procedures.
- Assist with general yard duties as required.
Requirements:
- Previous experience working in a scrapyard, vehicle dismantling facility, or similar environment preferred.
- Forklift experience (licence preferred but not essential depending on training requirements).
- Knowledge of vehicle depollution procedures.
- Ability to remove wheels, tyres, batteries, and vehicle fluids safely.
- Good understanding of workplace health and safety.
- Physically fit and capable of manual handling duties.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work as part of a team.
- Strong work ethic and attention to detail.
