Job Summary

We are looking to recruit an Administrative Coordinator to support the work of the Radionuclide Therapy team. The post holder will be based within the business management and administration section of the Department and will assist the Radionuclide therapy team with their expanding patient administration workload.

The Radionuclide Therapy team provide a range of treatments for cancer and benign disease using radioactive drugs and are based in the Leeds Cancer Centre at St James’s University Hospital. Working closely with the oncologists, nurse specialists, clinical technologists and clinical scientists, the team manage the treatment pathway from initial referral for treatment, through patient booking, preparation and treatment, to follow up imaging.

Why you should join our Team

If successful, you will be the point of contact for all administrative issues relating to a patient’s treatment pathway, working alongside the clinical team. The successful candidate will have good IT skills and, ideally, knowledge of the Trust’s patient administration systems (PAS). You will need to have excellent communication skills and enjoy working in a busy, challenging but rewarding environment. You must have a positive approach and be highly motivated to work effectively and efficiently.

The department operates Monday to Friday with core hours of 8:30 to 3:30 and ideally this role will cover all 5 days working 4.5 hours each day but there may be opportunities for flexibility.

What you will bring to the role

Excellent organisational skills with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Prioritise own workload and, where appropriate, that of the team.
Able to effectively manage a variety of tasks with possibly competing deadlines.
Highly developed interpersonal skills with the ability to exchange confidential, sensitive or contentious information clearly and effectively at all levels, i.e. patients, relatives, colleagues and other health professionals, within the Trust and externally.
An ability to exercise judgement when dealing with enquiries to evaluate the situation and resolve problems within their remit, escalating issues appropriately.
To support and sustain the department’s practice with efficient administrative protocols, processes and procedures, in line with service needs.
Using and updating databases, producing reports and statistics for the team and wider distribution, on a regular and ad hoc basis eg waiting lists, attendance management information.
