Job Description
We are looking for an enthusiastic, skilled, and detail-oriented Avionics Wiring Technician / Workshop Engineer to join our engineering team at a well-established general aviation company based in Edinburgh.
The primary focus of this role will be the manufacture, assembly, and testing of custom wiring harnesses and electrical systems for use in general aviation aircraft and avionics installations. The successful candidate will work from detailed wiring schematics, installation drawings, and circuit diagrams to produce high-quality wiring looms and assemblies, carry out soldering and connector termination tasks, and assist with avionics workshop operations.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a background in aviation, avionics, electronics, or a similar technical field to build a long-term career in the aviation industry. Previous experience in aviation would be advantageous but is not essential, as full training will be provided to the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities
- Manufacture custom aircraft wiring harnesses from engineering drawings and wiring diagrams.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and engineering documentation.
- Assemble, terminate, label, and test wiring looms to a high standard.
- Carry out soldering, crimping, connector assembly, and cable preparation work.
- Assist with avionics equipment testing, repairs, and workshop activities.
- Ensure all work is completed accurately and in accordance with company procedures and aviation standards.
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment.
- Support avionics installation projects and other workshop tasks as required.
Requirements & Experience
- Excellent manual dexterity and attention to detail.
- High standard of soldering, wiring, and cable assembly skills.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
- Experience manufacturing wiring harnesses, cable assemblies, or electrical systems.
- Experience with connector termination, crimping techniques, and electronic assemblies.
- Familiarity with electrical testing equipment such as multimeters and continuity testers.
- Strong practical engineering, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Background in avionics, electronics, aerospace, automotive electrical systems, or a similar technical field.
- Knowledge of aircraft electrical systems and avionics installations would be advantageous but is not essential.

Working Hours
Monday to Thursday, 08:30–17:00; Friday, 08:30–16:30.
