Coleg Cambria is seeking a passionate and skilled Art & Design Instructor Demonstrator to join our creative team at the Yale campus. This role is ideal for a practitioner with a strong specialist background in the visual arts who thrives in sharing their expertise through practical instruction and demonstrations within our comprehensive Art & Design programmes.
As an Instructor Demonstrator, you will be primarily responsible for delivering and supporting structured practical sessions that foster the technical skills and creative talents of our students. You will prepare and execute practical activities derived from the Art and Design Curriculum Lead and relevant lecturers across different disciplines. Additionally you will also be responsible for maintaining the Art & Design Gallery which plays an important part of the curriculum delivery.
The successful candidate will maintain meticulous records and uphold professional standards when interacting with both students and faculty. Creating a supportive learning environment, championing equal opportunities, and adhering to health and safety protocols are all critical facets of this role. You will also participate in staff development initiatives and are encouraged to pursue your own continuous professional development.
This role is suited to individuals with a passion for textiles and fashion, however other areas of expertise are encouraged to apply. Prior experience in a similar educational setting would be advantageous, but not essential.
Essential Requirements
Qualified to a minimum of Level 3 or equivalent in a professionally relevant subject matter
Awareness of the importance of quality standards within teaching
Demonstrate an understanding of current developments within your own specialist area and ways of keeping up to date with such developments
Recent industrial experience in the relevant specialist area
Welsh Language skills are an essential requirement for this role, however Welsh learners* with the ability to reach a level 3/4 within a 18 months to 2 year period are also encouraged to apply. Welsh learners will need to be at Level 2 and demonstrate a commitment to achieving fluency. Coleg Cambria are committed to supporting this development through a tailored professional development plan). A Welsh Language skills assessment will form part of the selection process to identify competence, confidence and suitability for a development plan.
