Job Summary
We are looking for a hands-on Building Maintenance Technician to support the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of our buildings and infrastructure. This role focuses on maintaining facilities through preventative and reactive maintenance, ensuring a high standard of functionality across site services.
- Days Shift Pattern – Monday – Thursday 7:30am until 4:30 pm - Friday 7:30am until 11:30am
The Person:
You are a practical, proactive individual with strong building maintenance experience and a commitment to health, safety, and quality. You’re comfortable working in a physical environment and confident handling a variety of maintenance tasks across multiple disciplines.
The Role:
As a Building Maintenance Technician, you will play a key role in ensuring that all site buildings, facilities, and infrastructure are safe, compliant, and fully operational. This is a hands-on, operational role involving both preventative maintenance and reactive repairs across a range of disciplines including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, HVAC, and general building upkeep.
You’ll work as part of the Site Maintenance team, supporting continuous improvement initiatives while ensuring adherence to company processes, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and routine inspections across site facilities
- Perform general maintenance tasks including plumbing, carpentry, decorating, and minor repairs
- Respond to and resolve reactive maintenance issues promptly
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality standards
- Identify and report risks, hazards, and improvement opportunities
- Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities within management systems
- Support calibration and upkeep of equipment and building assets
- Coordinate and oversee contractors and external suppliers on site
- Assist in preparing workspaces for repairs, upgrades, or renovations
- Contribute to continuous improvement, 5S activities, and operational efficiency initiatives
- Support audits, compliance checks, and regulatory requirements
- Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders across departments
- Participate in training and development activities
Requirements:
- Relevant maintenance qualification (NVQ Level 3 or equivalent minimum)
- Demonstrable experience in building maintenance or facilities management
- Strong practical skills across multiple maintenance disciplines
- Understanding of health & safety regulations and safe systems of work
- Ability to work at height, in confined spaces, and carry out manual handling tasks
- Experience using maintenance systems or ERP tools
- Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
