Diamond Industrial Supplies is a fast-growing B2B industrial supplies business based in Falkirk, supplying companies across Central Scotland with PPE, workwear, fasteners, fixings, tools, consumables and site supplies.
We’re an established family business with over 50 years of history, but we are not standing still. We work with businesses that need more than just a box-shifter. Our customers rely on us for reliable supply, fast turnaround, product knowledge, managed stores, workwear, PPE, consumables and practical support that helps keep their operations moving.
We are now looking for a commercially driven Business Development Manager to join our growing sales team and help us win, develop and retain higher-value B2B accounts across Central Scotland.
The Role
This is a field-based B2B sales role focused on winning and developing customers with the potential to spend £20,000+ per year with Diamond Industrial Supplies.
You will be responsible for identifying new opportunities, visiting prospects and customers, understanding their current supply arrangements and positioning Diamond as a better, more responsive local supply partner.
This is not a role for someone who simply wants to collect orders or drop off catalogues. We are looking for someone who can open conversations, build relationships, understand customer needs and develop accounts properly over time.
You will work closely with our internal sales team, telesales/business development support, Sales Manager and Managing Director to build a strong pipeline of new and existing customer opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
Your main responsibilities will include:
- Developing new B2B customers across Central Scotland.
- Targeting businesses with the potential to spend £20,000+ per year.
- Visiting prospects and customers face to face.
- Building relationships with buyers, operations managers, stores managers, site managers, health and safety managers and business owners.
- Understanding customer requirements across PPE, workwear, fasteners, tools, consumables and site supplies.
- Identifying opportunities for Diamond to improve service, supply, pricing, product range or account support.
- Preparing and following up on quotes and proposals.
- Managing a structured pipeline of prospects and opportunities.
- Re-engaging dormant or underdeveloped accounts.
- Growing existing accounts through cross-selling and better account management.
- Working with internal sales to ensure quotes, orders and customer requests are handled properly.
- Recording calls, visits, opportunities and next steps accurately in CRM.
- Meeting agreed sales, margin, activity and pipeline targets.
Other Duties
As part of a growing business, you will also be expected to contribute beyond basic sales visits.
This may include:
- Supporting customer product trials and site surveys.
- Identifying managed stores, vending, consignment or regular supply opportunities.
- Working with suppliers on product demonstrations or joint customer visits.
- Attending sales meetings and contributing to growth plans.
- Feeding back market information on competitors, pricing and customer buying habits.
- Supporting tender, framework or contract opportunities where relevant.
- Helping improve how we target, win and retain customers.
- Working with the wider team to ensure customers receive a high level of service after the sale.
What We’re Looking For
We are looking for someone with proven B2B sales experience, ideally in one of the following areas:
- Industrial supplies
- PPE or workwear
- Tools, fixings or fasteners
- Construction supplies
- Engineering supplies
- Trade distribution
- Field sales into manufacturing, engineering, construction or site-based businesses
Industry experience would be a strong advantage, but the right sales behaviours matter just as much.
You should be confident visiting customers, opening new doors, asking good questions and managing opportunities from first conversation through to account development.
