Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Relief Milker to join our agricultural team. This role involves providing essential support in milking operations and maintaining the health and wellbeing of livestock. The ideal candidate will possess a strong work ethic, practical skills, and a genuine interest in animal care and farm maintenance. Responsibilities
- Assist with milking livestock efficiently and hygienically, ensuring animal comfort and health.
- Support the regular maintenance and cleaning of milking equipment and facilities.
- Perform basic repairs on farm machinery using hand tools and power tools as needed.
- Monitor animals for signs of illness or distress, reporting any concerns to senior staff promptly.
- Assist with general farm duties such as feeding, watering, and caring for animals.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of work areas to ensure a safe environment.
- Support irrigation systems and horticultural activities to promote healthy pasture growth.
- Carry out heavy lifting tasks related to feed, equipment, or livestock movement safely.
Requirements
- Prior experience or knowledge in animal care, horticulture, or farm maintenance is advantageous but not essential; training will be provided.
- Mechanical knowledge and familiarity with hand tools, power tools, and basic equipment repair are desirable skills.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and work in physically demanding conditions.
- Basic mathematical skills for measuring feed quantities or equipment calibration.
- Practical understanding of irrigation systems and farm machinery operation is beneficial.
- Strong organisational skills with attention to detail in daily tasks.
- Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and adhere to health and safety protocols.
- A proactive attitude with good communication skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Pay: £15.00-£20.00 per hour
