About the Role
We are looking for two enthusiastic and committed Youth Workers to join our detached youth work team.
The role will involve engaging with young people in the community, building positive relationships and providing support, guidance and activities in places where young people naturally spend their time.
We are open to applicants with previous youth work experience, as well as people who are new to the profession but have the right attitude, values and ability to engage positively with young people.
Key Responsibilities
- Engage with young people in community settings and build trusting, positive relationships.
- Provide informal support, guidance and encouragement to young people.
- Identify young people's needs and signpost them to appropriate services and opportunities.
- Plan and deliver informal activities and opportunities that encourage positive participation.
- Promote positive behaviour, wellbeing, confidence and social development.
- Work as part of a small detached youth work team.
- Maintain professional boundaries and follow safeguarding procedures at all times.
- Record relevant interactions, concerns and outcomes appropriately.
- Work flexibly across three evenings each week, including being prepared to work outdoors and in a variety of community settings.
- Develop positive relationships with local organisations, services and the wider community.
What We Are Looking For
We are looking for people who are:
- Approachable, friendly and able to communicate effectively with young people.
- Reliable, responsible and able to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Non-judgemental and committed to treating young people with dignity and respect.
- Confident engaging with young people in a range of environments.
- Able to establish appropriate professional boundaries.
- Willing to learn and develop their skills.
- Passionate about making a positive difference to the lives of young people.
Previous youth work experience is desirable but not essential. We are willing to appoint the right person based on their attitude, values, potential and ability to engage with young people.
Training and Development
For applicants who do not already hold a youth work qualification, we are willing to support the successful candidate to undertake a fully funded Level 2 Youth Work qualification.
This provides an excellent opportunity for someone who is interested in developing a career in youth work and gaining a recognised qualification while working in the community.
Hours
Each post is for 6 hours per week, delivered across three evenings per week.
The exact days and times will be agreed with the successful applicants and will reflect the needs of the detached youth work programme and the young people we are working with.
Safeguarding
The successful applicants will be required to complete appropriate safeguarding checks, including a DBS check, and will be expected to comply fully with our safeguarding and child protection policies and procedures.
Why Join Us?
This is an opportunity to become part of a youth work team that is committed to reaching young people where they are, building meaningful relationships and helping them to access positive opportunities and support.
