As a Breeze Event Worker you'll help deliver some of Leeds' best-loved events for children and families, from summer outdoor festivals to a full-scale immersive Christmas experience at Lotherton Hall.
These are casual roles with flexible hours. No two days look the same, and the work is hands-on, often outdoors, and genuinely enjoyable.
We're looking for people who are confident working with children and families and happy to muck in. You'll bring:

Experience of working with children or young people, whether in a school, childcare, play or events setting
- The ability to communicate well with families, colleagues and members of the public
- A practical, reliable approach and the willingness to work outdoors and in variable conditions
- Flexibility to work weekends and unsociable hours, depending on the event programme
We recruit Breeze Event Workers across three main areas. Tell us in your application which apply to you:
Drivers (summer)
You'll move kit and equipment between event sites across the city, driving large vans up to 3.5 tonnes (long wheelbase or Luton). You'll also work directly with children and families on the day, so some experience of that is essential.
Performers (Halloween and Christmas)
You'll bring characters to life at Lotherton Hall's seasonal events. A theatre or performance background is what we're looking for, alongside the ability to stay in character and respond naturally to children and families.
Event crew (September to February)
You'll help with the physical set-up, running and take-down of events, including heavy lifting and working at height if needed. Previous events, outdoor or festival experience is useful here.
Useful additional skills include arts and crafts delivery, childcare qualifications, first aid, and experience of running workshops. You don't need all of these, just some.

Job purpose
We are looking for friendly, passionate people to join our team of casual staff to support the running of Halloween and The Christmas Experience at Lotherton Hall.
We require staff who have a variety of skills and experience working with children and their families to ensure they have a fun and magical experience, we offer a variety of roles from event site staff, performers and entertainers, and delivering arts and crafts with young people therefore people with some of the following experience:

Actors, performers, or entertainers
- Worked with children with arts and crafts
- Practically minded, problem solving and able to work outdoors in all weathers
Responsibilities

To assist in the delivery of Halloween & Christmas events at Lotherton
- To work with and build relationships with young people while in character and encourage them to participate in arts, crafts, and the experience in general as a whole.
- To work as part of a team
- To report to and liaise with the Breeze Team and other nominated staff.
- To assist with administrative tasks to support programme delivery eg checking tickets, answering visitor queries, and stock checking
- To assist with the physical build of infrastructure at the events.
- To supervise young people’s safe use of equipment and engagement with activities
- To carry out the above duties in compliance with Council policies including Equal Opportunities, Safeguarding, Health and safety and where appropriate, National Governing Body Codes of Conduct

Qualifications
Essential requirements It is essential that the candidate should be able to demonstrate the following criteria for the post. Candidates will only be shortlisted for interview if they can demonstrate that they meet all the essential requirements.

- Ability to deal appropriately with challenging behaviour.
- Ability to communicate with a wide range of people individually and in groups and at all appropriate levels.
- Ability to inspire and motivate young people to participate in arts, crafts and cultural activities.
- Ability to set up and take down areas and equipment to deliver young people’s activities and events.
- Understanding of a range of differing approaches to Youth provision.
- Knowledge of issues affecting young people.
- Knowledge of safeguarding issues in relation to young people
- Knowledge of confidentiality and data protection
- Knowledge of Risk assessments and health and safety guidelines
- Experience of working with young people
- Experience of working within a team setting
- Experience of supervising people in a voluntary or paid position

First Aid qualification
- Level 1 or 2 qualification in working with young people.
- Relevant qualifications in the arts - performance, theatre, music etc.
- Experience of working in a performance/theatre setting (indoor/outdoor)
- Experience of working at a Halloween/Scare event.
- Experience of working at a Christmas event.
