Full job description

The NHS Resolution Claims Management function has embarked on the next phase of transformation and expansion with a vision to deliver a single, integrated claims function, with a supportive organisational structure that avoids duplication of effort and allows teams to develop their skills.

The claims teams manage claims emanating from former PCTs and Strategic Health Authorities, which transferred to the Secretary of State. The claims teams work in an interesting and dynamic climate, all contributing to a continually improving claims service.

The opportunity

As NHS Resolution continues to grow, we are recruiting for Technical Leaders with clinical negligence claims handling experience to join us and support our main aim by proactively managing claims from commencement to conclusion on behalf of Members and Beneficiaries of the indemnity schemes that we are responsible for as an NHS arm’s length body. This is a key strategic role in the function and the Technical Leader is a senior member of the team, investigating, negotiating, reserving and settling claims.

What you’ll be doing

Leading and developing a high-performing claims team, setting a standard for compassionate leadership and technical excellence.
Overseeing complex and high-value claims, ensuring compliance with NHS Resolution’s requirements and the highest standards of service.
Providing expert guidance, training, and technical support to team members and act as the senior technical referral point.
Collaborating with the Operational Team Leader on recruitment, talent management, and succession planning.
Managing relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including NHS bodies, panel firms, and other partners.

What we’re looking for

Extensive experience of handling complex personal injury/clinical negligence claims to a successful conclusion, including managing a complex caseload while consistently achieving set targets.
Able to explain highly complex issues to others and overcome any barriers to understanding.
Expert, specialised, and in-depth knowledge across a wide range of areas related to clinical negligence claims.
Extensive knowledge and understanding of the application of current law and clinical practice to clinical claims.
Demonstrable evidence of the ability to plan and organise a broad range of complex activities and service improvement strategies, with the flexibility to adjust plans or strategies as service and customer needs change.
