Full job description

Community Support & Engagement Officer

Location: North Leeds

Hours: Hours: 27.5 hours per week Monday to Thursday: 10:00am to 4:00pm Friday: 10:00am to 1:30pm (Occasional weekend work may be required)

Salary: £13.74 per hour, £19,648 per annum.

Contract: Permanent

Are you a caring, friendly and proactive person who enjoys supporting others?

MAZCC is looking for a Community Support & Engagement Officer to help create a warm, welcoming and inclusive environment where people feel connected, valued and supported. This rewarding role involves supporting older people and other community members to access activities, build confidence, reduce isolation and maintain their independence. You'll be helping people connect, take part, build confidence and enjoy meaningful activities in a welcoming and supportive environment.

What You'll Do

Welcome and support visitors attending the centre.
Assist with sign-ins and activity payments.
Encourage participation in activities and community life.
Support older people, including those living with dementia.
Provide information, signposting and referrals to appropriate services.
Support residents from LJHA accommodation to access activities.
Identify and report any safeguarding or wellbeing concerns.
Assist with activity set-up and delivery.
Build positive relationships with members, families and partner organisations.

About You

You'll be:

Friendly, approachable and compassionate.
Passionate about helping people.
A confident communicator with excellent people skills.
Able to work independently and as part of a team.
Observant, reliable and able to recognise when someone needs additional support.

Essential Requirements

Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
Experience working with older people.
Understanding of safeguarding and confidentiality.
Good organisational and IT skills.
Ability to communicate effectively with people living with dementia.
Commitment to promoting dignity, independence and inclusion.

Desirable

Experience in community, health, social care or customer-facing roles.
Knowledge of dementia-friendly approaches.
Understanding of the Jewish community.
