Specialist Note Taker for Disabled Students

TERRA Consultancy, a distinguished provider of support for disabled students across universities, is seeking enthusiastic Specialist Note Takers to join our dedicated team. If you are ready to play a vital role in enhancing the educational experience of students with disabilities, read on!

Position Overview:

As a Specialist Note Taker, you will be at the heart of our mission, responsible for producing precise and comprehensive notes during lectures, seminars, discussions, and off-campus events for students with disabilities. This role is both rewarding and flexible, offering you the chance to contribute to a noble cause while accommodating your schedule. The support is needed at LEEDS Universities to cover all sessions. Minimum payment charges of 2 hrs apply.

Timetable:-

tbc (3rd week of September will be released timetabale)

Please note, this timetable is largely to remain the same, though some sessions may be subject to change or addition. Flexibility will be required to accommodate any adjustments to the schedule.

Key Responsibilities:

Capture the essence of lectures, seminars, discussions, and off-campus events electronically using a laptop or iPad.
Deliver the notes to students within 24 hours in their preferred style and format.
Complete and submit necessary paperwork accurately and promptly.
Approach your work with professionalism, a helpful attitude, and unwavering confidentiality.
Engage in relevant training to enhance your skills.
Provide guidance to blind students as needed.

Qualifications:

A commitment to mandatory training is essential.
Evidence of education to degree (or equivalent) level, preferably with knowledge in the subject required for note-taking or a related field.
Exceptional spelling and grammar skills.
Ability to create clear, concise, and relevant materials tailored to each student's preferred format.
Proficiency in IT and access to a computer for typing and formatting notes.

Applicants holding an enhanced current DBS are preferred. The DBS checks that are up to one (1) year old may be accepted. Candidates without DBS must be willing to apply for a new one.

Terms and Conditions:

The hours and days of work for Note Takers are flexible, accommodating student needs and changing course timetables each term.
The role requires adaptability, as support may not always follow a strict schedule.
This is a permanent zero-hour contract with extended breaks during the summer and Christmas seasons, making it ideal for candidates with supplementary income sources.
Timely submission of accurate records and timesheets is crucial.
