Residence Receptionist
Job Overview
StuHomes, part of Education Travel and Leisure Ltd, is looking for a friendly, organised and customer-focused Receptionist to join the team at Briggate Studios, our 86-room purpose-built student accommodation residence in the heart of Leeds.
As the first point of contact for residents, prospective residents, visitors and contractors, you will play a key role in creating a welcoming, safe and professional environment. This varied front-of-house position combines excellent customer service with administration, reception management and day-to-day operational support to ensure residents receive an outstanding experience throughout their stay.
You will support the resident journey from arrival through to departure by assisting with check-ins and check-outs, managing reception services, responding to enquiries, recording maintenance requests and ensuring site security procedures are followed. The successful candidate will be calm under pressure, organised, approachable and committed to delivering exceptional customer service.
Responsibilities
- Welcome residents, prospective residents, visitors and contractors in a professional, friendly and helpful manner.
- Respond to telephone, email and face-to-face enquiries, providing accurate information or referring queries to the appropriate colleague.
- Deliver an excellent customer experience while maintaining a welcoming, tidy and professional reception area.
- Support resident check-ins, check-outs and room moves, including issuing keys and access cards, completing document checks and updating resident records.
- Maintain accurate occupancy, resident and communication records using company systems.
- Complete daily reception logs, shift handovers and administrative tasks accurately.
- Manage incoming post, parcels, visitor registrations, contractor access and key control in accordance with company procedures.
- Follow site procedures relating to access control, security, lone working, emergencies, evacuations and incident reporting.
- Record maintenance and housekeeping issues, ensuring residents receive appropriate updates and requests are escalated promptly.
- Support accommodation enquiries, resident communications, property viewings and re-booking activities following training.
- Listen to resident concerns professionally and resolve routine issues wherever possible.
- Recognise and promptly escalate complaints, safeguarding concerns, welfare issues, medical incidents, security matters or behavioural concerns to management.
- Assist colleagues during busy arrival and departure periods and contribute to the smooth day-to-day operation of the residence.
- Carry out reception and communal area inspections to maintain high presentation standards.
- Provide clear and accurate handovers to colleagues to ensure continuity between shifts.
ExperienceEssential
- Previous experience in a customer-facing role, such as reception, hospitality, residential property, retail, education or a similar environment.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Friendly, professional and approachable manner with the ability to build positive relationships.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Confident using Microsoft Office and email, with the ability to quickly learn booking and property management systems.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and follow company procedures.
- Awareness of when resident concerns, complaints or welfare matters require escalation.
- A proactive, flexible and resident-focused approach to work.
Desirable
- Experience working within purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA), university accommodation, hotels, serviced accommodation or residential property.
- Experience of booking systems, check-ins, access control, parcel management or property viewings.
- Knowledge of safeguarding, student welfare and emergency procedures.
- First Aid or Fire Marshal training.
Working Hours
- Full-time, permanent position.
- 40 hours per week.
- Working 5 days out of 7, including early, late and weekend shifts.

Pay: £27,000.00-£30,000.00 per year
