Content Creator Apprentice
30 hours per week | Apprenticeship | Studio-based with UK travel
Want to start a career in the creative industry?
If you're leaving school or college or beyond and figuring out what comes next, or know that a traditional classroom or office job isn't for you, this could be the opportunity you're looking for.
We're looking for a Content Creator Apprentice to join our photography studio and spend the next year learning what it's actually like to work in the creative industry.
You don't need professional experience. You don't need your own camera. And you definitely don't need to already know how to do everything.
That's the point of the apprenticeship.
What we do want is someone creative, curious and enthusiastic who wants the opportunity to learn.
Maybe you're already the person who loves taking video or photos, making TikToks or Reels, editing videos, designing things, experimenting with AI, watching YouTube tutorials or coming up with content ideas. You might not even think of yourself as a "content creator" yet.
We can teach you the technical stuff.
This isn't an apprenticeship where you'll just watch
You'll be working alongside us on real projects for real creative businesses.
One day you might be filming behind the scenes at a photoshoot. Another could be spent editing a YouTube video, helping create a social campaign or photographing content.
Other days you could be travelling with us to photography talks, workshops, live demonstrations and events around the UK.
You'll get the chance to try lots of different areas of the creative industry and discover what you're good at and what you enjoy.
What you'll be doing
You'll gradually learn to:
- Film behind-the-scenes content during photoshoots
- Photograph and film workshops and events
- Create content for Instagram, TikTok and other social platforms
- Help produce YouTube content
- Edit photographs using Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom
- Edit video content
- Develop and pitch content ideas
- Plan and create content across several different brands
- Help with marketing campaigns and launches
- Use modern AI tools for creative work and productivity
- Help with the day-to-day running of a working photography studio
- Travel with us to selected events, talks and workshops
You're an apprentice, so we don't expect you to walk through the door knowing how to do all of this.
You'll learn as you go.
What you'll learn
Over the course of your apprenticeship, you'll build practical experience in:
- Photography
- Videography
- Photoshop and Lightroom
- Video editing
- Social media content creation
- YouTube production
- Creative AI tools and workflows
- Marketing
- Branding
- Content strategy
- Working with different audiences and brands
- How a real creative business operates behind the scenes
You'll be learning skills you can take into a future career in photography, videography, content creation, social media, marketing and the wider creative industries.
Who we're looking for
Attitude matters much more to us than experience.
Experience isn't essential, but creative spark is.
We're looking for someone who is naturally curious, creative and excited by the idea of making things.
You don't need to already know Photoshop, Lightroom, professional cameras or video editing software. We can teach you those things.
But we do want someone who is comfortable with technology, enjoys figuring things out and isn't intimidated by learning new software, tools and platforms.
We're looking for someone who:
- Has a genuine creative spark and enjoys coming up with ideas
- Uses their initiative and can think for themselves
- Is comfortable using technology and picking up new software
- Is curious and enjoys learning how things work
- Can see something that needs doing and get involved
- Is interested in photography, video, social media, design or content creation
- Is willing to experiment, try things and sometimes get things wrong
- Can take direction but doesn't need to be told every tiny step
- Is reliable, organised and takes responsibility for their work
- Is happy working in an environment where every day can be different
- Brings energy, enthusiasm and ideas to the role
You might already spend your spare time taking photographs, making videos, editing Reels or TikToks, designing things, experimenting with AI, trying new apps or teaching yourself creative software.
That interests us far more than whether you've already got professional experience.
We're not looking for someone who already knows everything.
We're looking for someone who has the creative instinct, initiative and curiosity to learn — and we'll help you develop the professional skills to go with it.
You don't need a professional portfolio.
If you've been making things at home, at school or college, for your own social accounts or simply because you enjoy it, we'd still love to hear about it.
Your working week
This is a 30-hour-per-week apprenticeship, based mainly at our photography studio.
Because this is the creative industry, our working week doesn't always fit neatly into Monday to Friday.
Most weeks will include at least one weekend day, and occasionally there will be evening work when we're running events or travelling.
Your rota will normally be planned at least one month in advance, so you'll know what's coming up wherever possible.
There will also be opportunities to travel around the UK with us for photography events, workshops, talks and live demonstrations.
What we'll provide
You don't need to go out and buy expensive equipment to start.
We'll provide access to the professional photography and video equipment you need for your role, alongside hands-on training and mentoring.
More importantly, you'll get the chance to build real experience.
By the end of the apprenticeship, our aim isn't simply for you to have completed a qualification.
We want you to have spent a year creating things, learning from mistakes, building confidence, developing a body of work and understanding what working in the creative industry is actually like.
Could this be you?
We're not looking for the finished product.
We're looking for someone with potential who wants an opportunity to learn.
Pay: £8.00-£10.85 per hour
Benefits:
- Casual dress
- Free parking
- On-site parking
